Booking a church for a wedding should be handled much in the same way you handle the rest of your vendor selection. Even if you are planning on using your home church, there is the need for securing some basic information. 1. Size of the church

3. Does the church have any religious requirements?

One of the first things you should find out about is if the church requires both of you to be part of the congregation in order to be married there. They may even require you or your spouse to be to convert to that particular church's denomination. Ask about any premarital counseling as well. Some won't marry you without it. If there are specific requirements, ensure that both you AND your spouse are willing to meet the requirements. If not, find another location.

4. Are there any restrictions on your ceremony?

There are some churches or particular clergymen that will not permit you to personalize your service. This may include not being able to play specific music or readings. They may only be willing to offer a standard ceremony. In addition, some churches may require that you utilize their organist only, which will in all likelihood limit your music selection.
